Instant messenger services are provided my most of the large
portals such as Yahoo, AOL, MSN and many more.
Messenger programs allow you to stay in touch with friends
or colleagues by being able to chat and share files over the internet.
Most of the main chat providers also offer
instant messenger as part of their service. This allows registered members to
stay in touch with other members who are on their friends list. The main benefit
to the user is they can carry on doing their work or surfing the web whilst
chatting as opposed to having to go to the chat site.
For the service provider this helps enhance
loyalty and repeat users.
Most people will have some form of messenger
service installed on their computer, even if they don't know about it. Microsoft
bundle windows messenger with all new installs of Windows 2000 and windows XP.
It was also an option in windows me and 98.
You can download all the popular messenger
programs from here.
