Messenger services in review
Yahoo!:
offer messenger service as part of the yahoo experience.
Your yahoo! ID becomes your messenger user ID. Yahoo is
aimed more towards the entertainment sector of instant messenger, but is a good
over all service that allows you to chat to your on-line buddies. Yahoo
messenger is very closely related to yahoo chat. Your friends list in yahoo chat
is also your friends list in messenger. Yahoo messenger also offers you quick
links to all of the major Yahoo features such as mail, news, and stock quotes.
Yahoo messenger will also notify you when you have received new mail to your
Yahoo email account. It also allows you to automatically log in to a variety of
yahoo services and features.
MSN:
Messenger is bundled as a part of Microsoft Windows and is very much aimed at
the MSN user.
MSN acts very much like a windows based program and allows
you to add people to your contact list. Msn is not as graphical as Yahoo! but
just as effective. It also allows for file sharing and voice communication.
There are a lot of fun features of MSN messenger suck as the white board that
allows users to draw online and view each others drawings. Another great feature
of MSN messenger is the ability to play multiplayer online games over the internet
or your local area network. The majority of multiplayer Microsoft games are
supported.
ICQ : Is
one if the earliest messenger services on the web. and is part of the ICQ portal
network.
ICQ has remained fairly untouched through the years. ICQ
is very useful for site developers
or creators because they offer a wide range of tools and
utilities as well as allow you to create your own ICQ plug-ins. It is also a
very easy to use and convenient client for the end user. ICQ aim their messenger
service mainly at ICQ portal users. The client is very easy to use but lacks
some of the advanced features of other packages on the market.
